Fresh restart – When life has its own thoughts about your plans

Sometimes you have ideas.

Some of them are even good ones! The best are the ones you simply get sucked into.

Being pulled

But then life “shares its thoughts” about your projects…and does it get interesting!

For the last year I’ve been involved in a few thrilling non-work projects.

Not only have they not meant income but in most of them it has required scarce resources (time, neurons and whatnot) and even money from my own pocket.

Fresh Start

Quite a downletting experience you might think.

But you know what? I’ll share a little something now that nobody’s listening.

Telling a secret

Thousands of people pay ungodly amounts of money to earn access to the theoretical knowdledge I’m talking about, let alone try it and test it.

This situation ties with how this blog started, so its all good!

So here is a summary of what I offer to you:

  • The business learnings in easy to take bites

  • Different techniques to stay sane and have a fresh mind

  • I’ll continue to share the stories and fables you all like!

So, are you ready to join me?

Leave your comments and suggestions below and I’ll do my best to roll them into the next posts!

And be sure to like if you liked the post and subscribe to this blog or the twitter.

Have an awesome day.

Reflecting – 27=9×3 strategy

27 words, 9 seconds, and three points

We live in a society focused on numbers.

dedos con números

Living up to the expectations.

Time and shifts.

It seems that only that which we can crunch into a number really matters.

And we love it…don’t we?

relojes ruedas

Actually we don’t.

We HATE it.

Then why does society focus on numbers so much?

Because they can measure it.

We can compare.

We can categorize things in “good” or “bad”.

Into “acceptable” or “unacceptable”.

But at the core of it all…

We think that they dispell uncertainty.

We have numbers, metrics, matrixes, spreadsheets, calculators, rulers…we CAN’T possible go wrong, can we?

Of course we can.

Anybody heard of an economic crisis that we’re supposed to be in?

300 629 10

And I’d say there were more than one or two “inteligent” people monitoring the situation…and probably had more than paper and pencil to figure it out and keep track.

The other day I read an interesting article (link at the bottom) about a common buzz word: elevator pitch.

Elevator pitch

Basically, the concept is that you happen to bump into somebody important/influential/rich and you have only 30 seconds to tell them about your super awesome project.

Beyond the actual 30 seconds mark, the concept is interesting.

If you’re able to explain in a well thought, articulate and convincing fashion its easier that you’ll be taken into account.

However, and this is probably the most important aspect, it forces you to soul search, de-clutter and focus on the core bare-bones of your project.

And that kind of attitude, habit and exercise is WONDERFUL, because for every word you take away, you get closer and closer to the soul our your idea.

As often, somebody went and gave it another twist…with more numbers (now you see why this post started the way it did!)

Have you had experience in brushing up your projects? What is your take on the issue?

Fables – The four candles

Once upon a time, four candles were burning.

The place was so silent that the dialogue between them could be heard.

The first said:

I am the Peace, and even with my light, people cannot manage to keep me lit.

Soon, the flame extinguished.

 velas volando

The second said:

I am Faith!

Sadly, I am not needed by people. They don’t want to know about God or their Spirit, it doesn’t make sense to continue burning.

When she finished talking, a soft wind blew her out.

 vela fe

Very quietly and sad, the third candle spoke:

I am Love!

I can’t continue burning, I am tired. People put me aside, only interested in taking care of themselves up to the point of forgetting those around them.

It too went out.

vela amor

Suddenly, a boy arrives and sees the three extinguished candles…

– What is this! You must be lit and burn until the end!

Then the fourth candle spoke:

– Fear not, my son.

While I am lit, we can re-ignite the other candles.

 vela esperanza

Then the boy took the candle of Hope and re-kindled the other candles.

 Author: unknown

May the candle of Hope never extinguish for you, for it is the light at the end of the tunnel.

Rewards – The WordPress Family Award

It’s been under 3 months this project got started.

Time flies and its actually hard to get back into the mindset with which it all started: we are a result of our daily experiences…and has there been experiences!

People have been (still are) constantly providing ideas, texts and feedback.

Every single post is proof read by plenty of people (thanks to all of you who drop me a mail/text when you find out some mistake…you are loved for being so “strict”).

I’ve never been that interested about social media, so imagine my surprise when I found out I’ve been awarded something by somebody!

And its not just anybody…its a blog (and the person behind it obviously) which actually has thousands and thousands of hits! (Note: he’s trying to get to the 100.000 visit mark…please do check him out).

So without further delay…

Here is the blogger giving the award:

And here is his award:

1. Ping back to the person who gave you the Award (Me) <- Done!

2. Display the Award

3. Display the text in Red as I want people to know why I made it

This is an award for everyone who is part of the “Word Press Family” I start this award on the basis that the Word Press family has taken me in, and showed me love and a caring side only Word Press can. The way people take a second to be nice, to answer a question and not make things a competition amazes me here. I know I have been given many awards, but I wanted to leave my own legacy on here by creating my own award, as many have done before. This represents “Family” we never meet, but are there for us as family. It is my honour to start this award. Thank you, Shaun

4. Nominate 10 people you look to as almost Family here on Word Press

Here are 10 blogs I follow and find VERY interesting:

1. Incredible photos with light <-

2. Humor searching the new ephiphany <-

3. A great shaker! <-

4. Daily dose of thoughtfulness <-

5. Learning how kindness spreads <-

6. One step a time <-

7. Nice thoughts <-

8. Well thought travel advice <-

9. Interesting health eating project <-

10. Art healing with attitude <-

Thanks to those who simply pass by…hopefully you take at least some thought with you 🙂

Thanks for all of those who follow this blog, comment or simply pass by and like…its free and believe it or not, it helps staying motivated!

Have an AWESOME day!

PS. For the record, in these weeks I hit several “milestones”…the two I most like? 40 followers and 500 views. This sounds ridiculous compared to what we know the big guys do…but you know what?

I don’t care for the big guys.

These views and followers are MY guys and I’m grateful to all of you.

Reflection – Is there an afterlife?

In the belly of a pregnant woman there were two babies. One asked the other:

2 fetos ying yang

– Do you believe in life after the birth?

– Of course I do! There HAS to be something after birth. Maybe we are here getting ready for something we will become later.

–  Nonsense! There is no life after birth! How would that life be?

– I don’t know, but probably….there will be more light than here. Maybe we will even walk on our own feet and feed through our mouths!

caminando por flores

– I can’t have any of that! Walking is impossible! And eating with the mouth? That is nonsense! The umbilical cord is how we feed. Let me tell you something: there is no life after birth!. The cord is just too short.

valla al campo

– I think that there has to be something. Maybe just a bit different from what we are used to here.

– But nobody has returned ever after birth. It is the end of life. After all, life is nothing but anxious existence in darkness that leeds nowhere.

– Well, I don’t know what it will exactly be after birth, but I’m certain we will see Mom and she will take care of us.

mujer embarazada osito

– Mom? You believe in Mom? And where is she according to you?

– Where? Everywhere! In here and through here is how we live. Without her, there would be no world as we know it.

– I don’t believe you! I have never seen Mom, hence it is logical that she doesn’t exist.

– Well….but sometimes, when we are silent, you can hear her singing o caressing our world. You know? I think that a real life awaits us out there and we are just getting ready for it…

Fables – The bee and the bird

The bee was flying in its busy work, going from flower to flower, doing what it had to do without questioning anything. The field provided all it needed for its joy and enjoy.

abeja ocupada

But a terrible drought hit the land. The plants and flowers no longer grew as they did before and the field became a desolated and lifeless barren.

campo seco

The bee, not knowing what to do, went to ask for advice to a wise bird that lived close by.

“Dear Bird, tell me, Why do’nt I have flowers at will like I had before? I’m trying to understand what has happened and I can’t understand it”.

pajaro y abeja

“Instead of trying to understand, try to pay attention, dear friend. Instead of asking why,  thinking about what has happened, pay attention to what surrounds you and you will be able to act as needed, in this case, going to other more fertile lands.

Not all things are solved by thinking about them but observingwhat is happening. So stop thinking and act in whatever way you need to continue living”, said the Bird.

flor sobreviviendo

Sometimes, the absurd and inexplicable does not have a logical explanation we can understand. What is more important is that we pay attention to what is in front of you in order to find the best answer to what you need.

Fables – The fisherman and the fish

pescador lanzando red

Once upon a time, a hungry fisherman cast his net to the sea and when he pulled it back he only found a small fish in it.

pez pequeño

He took it in his hands, but the animal begged to be released because he was too small.

– When I grow you can catch me again and I will be of more benefit for you.

pez grande

– I would be a fool , the fisherman said, to let go of the catch I have in my hands, hoping for a better one after unknown time, no matter how big it could be.

soñando pez

It is foolish to disregard the riches we have in hand, arguing it is but little a thing.

How to be lucky

Ever wondered how some people just keep being lucky?

We all know someone who constantly seems to be in the right moment in the right time!

Encontrar una moneda

A friend of mine is like that: he’s always doing interesting things and I feel jealous (in the good sense) of how he repeatedly has such good things come into his life.

Some time ago, he decided that after years in the design industry he wanted an opportunity abroad from Spain.

So he devised a plan the best he could and he started communicating what he wanted to anyone who would lend a listening ear.

If you want we can talk in some other post about the importance of attitude and ressonance of our ideas 😉

Mujer con megafono

After quite a few months (which to him it seemed like years) he landed an incredible opportunity in Northern Europe. We were all thrilled that he had managed his ambition.

So it happened that through this opportunity, he saw that what he believed he most wanted…was not so. He learned hands-on what the task implied…and decided it was not for him.

manos sucias

So he quit.

With no other job at hand.

Having to return to Spain.

And only 1 week after he was back here, getting ready for some time off and regenerating him grey cells…he was suddenly called for a project also abroad in Europe.

What he hadn’t realized was that once you get things into movement, they don’t stop when you decide.

It just so happened that all the idea-pushing effort he had made over a year ago was still yielding opportunities.

And it was SUCH a good opportunity.

Right now, he’s working in the company he’s always loved, doing the work he really enjoys and experiencing an opportunity abroad.

star concept

How has he done that?

  1. Have a clear message. If you can’t explain it in 1 phrase, keep fine tuning it
  2. Be passionate about what you want. Don’t just take whatever comes across…accept only what makes you vibrate!
  3. Be honest. No sense in making up things or trying to fit in a non-fitting situation…in the end it will become a frustrating situation for everybody

Have you had similar experiences? Do you know someone who is also constantly lucky?
